Our Story
Progression airbags represents a partnership formed by AcroBag World and Katal Innovations and brings together the broadest range of professionalism and experience in the industry.
Katal Innovations
Katal Innovation founders and snowboard enthusiasts Stephen Slen and Aaron Coret founded Katal in 2008 when they pioneered the first ever downslope airbags. The event that inspired their innovation was a tragic accident on a snowboarding trick in 2005 that left Aaron a quadriplegic, paralyzed from the neck down. In 2009 – 2010 Katal delivered a custom Landing Pad the was seen in the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games opening ceremony. In 2011 Slen and Coret’s safety innovation garnered them accolades from Popular Science Magazine, naming the Landing Pad to their “Invention of the Year” list and they were invited to speak at TEDx Vancouver on the topic of “Finding Your Passion“. Both Stephen and Aaron graduated from UBC applied science with engineering degrees which in addition to their experience with Katal, prepared them for their roles within Progression Airbags. Aaron is the lead airbag designer and Stephen is the technical sales manager.
AcroBag World
AcroBag World founder Marc-André Tarte, previously an élite, world-class snowboarder acclaimed for pushing the limits of his craft, walked away with prize money from several competitions over the years, including Whistler’s the World Snowboarding Championship, Vienna’s Lord of the Boards two years running, Japan’s Toyota Big Air, and the Freestyle. CH Festival in Switzerland over four consecutive years.
